A Painful Torment

{ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَيَشْتَرُونَ بِهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا أُولَئِكَ مَا يَأْكُلُونَ فِي بُطُونِهِمْ إِلَّا النَّارَ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَا يُزَكِّيهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ} [البقرة: 174].

Verily, those who conceal what Allah has sent down of the Book, and purchase a small gain therewith (of worldly things), they eat into their bellies nothing but fire. Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor purify them, and theirs will be a painful torment.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ Verily, those who

يَكْتُمُونَ conceal

مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ what Allah has sent down

مِنَ الْكِتَابِ of the Book

وَيَشْتَرُونَ and purchase

بِهِ therewith

ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا a small gain

أُولَئِكَ they

مَا يَأْكُلُونَ فِي بُطُونِهِمْ eat into their bellies nothing

إِلَّا النَّارَ but fire

وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ اللَّهُ Allah will not speak to them

يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ on the Day of Resurrection

وَلَا يُزَكِّيهِمْ nor purify them

وَلَهُمْ and theirs

عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ will be a painful torment
